GROUND 地 Exhibition – Shibaura House, Tokyo

GROUND is the title of an exhibition dedicated to the work of Roger Boltshauser. The title refers to the ground, the earth, material and foundation, as well as to what already exists and to context as the basis of architecture.

From 24 October to 1 November 2026, SHIBAURA HOUSE in Tokyo becomes a place of architectural conversation. Together with Roger Boltshauser, Atelier Andrea Gassner has conceived and curated the exhibition. Rather than presenting a body of work as something complete and self-contained, the exhibition focuses on a particular attitude towards designing and building. Architects and designers from Japan enter into dialogue with Roger Boltshauser, exploring different cultural perspectives, shared questions, and the future of building. In this way, GROUND is not conceived as a monographic exhibition, but as a meeting ground between European and Japanese architectural cultures.

Earth, surfaces, and traces of matter shape the GROUND poster series. The design creates space for content, images, different languages, and voices — a common ground on which architecture and discourse can enter into relation.
